I’m ready for Week 2 of the Clear the Clutter Challenge!
Like I told you last week, getting rid of clutter doesn’t come easily for me, but I worked hard this week! I’m actually pretty proud of myself — I have quite a few boxes of stuff to get rid of in our upcoming garage sale!
So if you don’t mind patting me on the back, I’d appreciate it. 🙂
Here’s the office before:
Here’s the office now:
Although you probably can’t tell, I did eliminate quite a few books. I also got rid of files and miscellaneous decor items I’ve been given throughout the years (very hard for me). I made sure everything had a place…and I made my inbox much smaller, so I’m forced to deal with it!
(Here’s one of my garage sale stashes! It is cluttering up the side of my office — but just for a few weeks!)
Next, I tackled the living room. It wasn’t really in bad shape — I just reorganized the book and magazine baskets. I also went through the books and eliminated some of them and recycled old magazines.
(The glass coffee table is the bane of my existence with little ones! Someday, I’ll get it replaced!! I did get rid of the candles on top, and I hope to replace them with a new-t0-me find!)
(I was given this nice basket in a set, and I love them for organizing magazines and books!)
My living room and office are in the same space, so I built a “wall” out of bookshelves to separate them. Here’s the before:
Here’s the after:
I must tell you that it has been so nice to have these rooms tidied up! I really do feel like a weight is off my shoulders! I hope to share more that I’m learning through this process — maybe once it’s over!!
- Plan for this week: Since this week is filled with activities for Easter and I don’t want to overwhelm myself, my goal is to work on the bathrooms and declutter them. I might do the furnace room, too!!
What area are you working on this week?!!

Ha, ha…I don’t think I’ll have the energy for much after I finish this place!! 🙂
