5 Healthy Travel Tips for Families

Guest post from Kendra at Thornton PR:

Happier Travels with Kids

When a family vacation is in the works, you will want to do whatever you can to make the festivities run smoothly. With a bit of planning, kids of all ages should have a wonderful time. As a mom, you can follow a few tips and guidelines to ensure that all enjoys the trip you’ve been coveting for months.

1) Research Hotel Options Carefully

As you begin to scout out hotels, you should be prepared to pay a bit more money in order to stay in a nicer place. Lower-priced hotels are often loud during the night hours. If you are traveling with an infant, then a good night’s sleep will allow you to greet the next day with plenty of energy. I love using Gogobot to sift through the reviews to get tip and tricks on where to stay. On this list of Orlando hotels I found some great family friendly reviews that were helpful in narrowing down my decision on where to stay!

2) Put Together a Travel Organizer

Before you leave the house, you might also help your kids create a travel organizer. By using a canvas shoe bag, the kids can gather some belongings that they might find useful on long road trips. Stuffed animals and books are both good options. Older kids, in fact, might prefer to read a novel to pass the time. Toys and games can also ward off boredom.

3) Bring Water Safety Devices from Home

Individuals who are spending a week at the beach will want to be extra careful. By packing life preservers, goggles, and other safety devices, you can ensure that your kids remain safe as they build sandcastles and play in the ocean waves. You should watch small children around deep water at all times.

4) Wear Lightweight Clothing

Your planned mode of transportation can influence your clothing choices. If traveling by plane, for example, you can expect to be warm on the tarmac and cool after you take off. Choose lightweight clothing items that can easily be taken off. Sweaters and light jackets may be useful when walking on the beach in the evenings.

5) Pack Some Suitable Snacks

In fact, snack foods are excellent for times when there are not a whole lot of dining options nearby.  Try to also pack a small cooler full of bottled water and soda. Makeshift picnics in park areas might be the perfect way to break up the monotony of a long drive.

Keeping the Little Ones Happy

Ultimately, you can use a variety of techniques to keep your little ones happy during the family vacation. By packing the right foods, games, and clothing items, you can easily make it through stressful situations. Once you reach your destination, you can begin an enthusiastic exploration of your surroundings.
