As I was planning about a month ago for a series of organization posts over at The Amazing Mess, I had this idea for a weekly chore chart for my children. We used this “Helping Hands” chore chart for preschoolers last year, but the girls were ready for something new!
Printable Chore Chart
I designed a very simple chart with a list of seven chores:
- Make bed
- Get dressed
- Brush teeth and hair
- Clean room
- Laundry Helper – help put the laundry in the washer or dryer and help fold and put it away
- Kitchen Helper – help with cooking, set the table, and load the dishwasher
- Mommy’s Helper – help me with any chores on my Motivated Moms planner
I cut down several sheets of scrapbook paper to fit in my printer and printed the template on a different pattern for each girl. I added stars to designate which day they served as various helpers. For the younger girls, I drew a very simple picture beside the words to help them remember what chores to do. Then, I laminated and taped junk magnets (from the phone book) on the back. If you don’t have access to a laminator, you can slip the sheet into a page protector!
The chore charts are on the refrigerator, and the girls mark off the chores with a dry erase pen as they finish them each morning. They also check to see which helper they are for the day. Right now, they like to check off each item — and it seems to motivate them. If they start to lag, I’ll add an incentive to get the circles crossed off each day!
You can download and print my simple template here or download a blank chart and draw pictures of chores for preschoolers. Thanks to my sister, there is now a customizable chart, too! Simply type in the chores you want and print!

The chart is perfect. Ready for the New Year! I included “One Act of Brotherly Kindness” for my each of my three boys to check off each day.
