Yesterday, I told you about how Facebook continues to label Motherhood on a Dime as “spammy and abusive”. I have since found out that there are LOADS of coupon and deal bloggers with the same problem. It is now getting to the point where people are even locked out of their fan pages.
I don’t want to keep harping on this, but I do receive quite a bit of traffic from Facebook. I’ve had several readers try to share deals I’m posting. They can’t. I can’t even post my own website to the Facebook page I created for this website!
I could just scream!!
Lots of you have shared with them that I am not a spammer. BUT THEY ARE NOT LISTENING TO ANY OF US!
With this in mind, I’ve written a short letter to Facebook. Unfortunately, I’m not sure how to send this to anyone. They are pretty good about making it hard to contact them!
AN OPEN LETTER TO FACEBOOK
Dear Mr. Zuckerberg,
At Motherhood on a Dime, I strive to put my readers first. As a blog dedicated to helping moms (and others) save money, find bargains and coupons, and share frugal and fun ideas for families, I am offended that my blog is being labeled as SPAM!!
I have poured so much time and energy to make my page accessible to my readers — and lots of them follow me through my Facebook page. My philosophy is that those who have “liked” me have made the choice to follow my page, so they must not think I’m SPAM!!
There are three things I would like to suggest to you:
1) Communicate with those of us in the blogging realm.
Why are you blocking us? What’s the criteria for being marked as spam? Why does it appear no one is listening to me or my readers when we let you know this blog is not spam? How long is it going to last?
I would really like some answers.
2) Make those who like a page unable to mark posts as spam.
When someone chooses to “like” a page, they should not be allowed to mark posts as spam. This allows someone who may not like you to wreak havoc with your blog. They could go onto your page, “like” it, and start marking all of the posts as spam.
Please consider revisiting and revising your spam-marking system. It’s not working.
3) Make some changes – and please do it quickly.
Something is very wrong when so many of my favorite blogs are being marked as spam. Several of these bloggers I have followed for quite some time. I know they are not spam. Why would I follow them if they were?
Obviously, I’m just a small-time blogger with limited reach. You haven’t listened to me thus far, but I am asking you to look into this problem and stop labeling me as abusive and spammy!
Sincerely,
Stacie A. Nelson

By the way, you can’t like this or share it on Facebook — because I’m labeled. However, you can put the post address in your status and share it that way — at least for now.
If you’re interested, you can check out the new Facebook page WE ARE NOT SPAM to see just how many blogs are affected by this.

I totally agree with all of it. Just put a big fat DITTO for me as well.
I just don’t really know what else to do! I keep trying various things…but when you’re dealing with Facebook, I guess they’re in control…

aloha! jayne directed me to this post and i have the same problem. i’ve figured out how to get around it but the solution is not pretty. you can use a URL shortener like bit.ly and post that link. it won’t be a pretty link back to your blog but its a link all the same. getting cut off from posting links to the blog’s fan page on FB has been sucking with only one exception for me. i’ve been talking more to the people who liked my page. but that’s been the only benefit!
I’m sorry….I know it is no fun. Completely frustrating!
I have just found out that some people are able to use HootSuite — I’ve tried a few times and been able to pull a thumbnail with it! It still isn’t that great though — because no one can repost any of the deals I share. Ugh.

Wow, that would be SO frustrating! I’m so sorry you have to deal with this! Hoping it all gets straitened out soon!
It is…at least I’ve found a way to post my links — but it’s slightly challenging to get new “likes” when people can’t share links or anything! Plus, if you try to share a link and it says I’m abusive or spammy, you probably aren’t going to want to be a part of my page (unless you know what’s going on)!
Hmmm…defamation?!!
