I got this thermometer that plugs into your phone, and it works pretty well! The Kinsa thermometer is on sale for $14.99 shipped right now (reg. $19.99).  I do recommend checking to be sure the app will work with your particular smartphone.  I didn’t know to check that, but thankfully it does work with my Nexus.
