You may remember that last month I set about writing a “Mom” mission statement. At this point, I am using this version (always subject to change, of course!):
To be a whole-hearted follower of Christ and to glorify Him by:
- Supporting, respecting, and honoring my husband.
- Shepherding the hearts of my children.
- Using the gifts and talents I’ve been given to share God’s love with those around me.
- Stewarding wisely the time and resources God has entrusted to me.
So, if this is what I want to accomplish before I leave this earth, then I need to set some goals to get me where I’m going.
Goals are big for me, because without them….well, without them, I won’t do anything. A perfectionist by nature, I easily become discouraged when I am not meeting my own expectations. So rather than disappoint myself and others, I just don’t try.
Of course, there are lots of other reasons to set goals, but that is one of my biggies. I also need something to hold me accountable. If I set a goal (especially a goal someone knows about), I’m much more inclined to reach it or at least move in that direction.
I want to become much more intentional about setting weekly goals as well as longer term goals, so I’m going to be sharing some of my immediate goals each week.
My Goals:
Faith/Ministry:
Complete Crown Financial Study on a daily basis.
Take the girls shopping for canned goods/pantry items for church.
Marriage:
Have a date this week.
Mothering/Discipleship/School:
Finish reading Anne of Green Gables.
Write in our “Gratitude Journal” every day.
Complete five Intentional Act of Kindness throughout the week.
Homemaking & Personal:
Catch up on laundry (I only did 2 loads last week!).
Order photobooks.
Complete Week 2 of Insanity.
Read Grace for the Good Girl: Letting Go of the Try-Hard Life.
Blogging:
Finish Christmas craft printable booklet.
What are some of your goals for this week? I’d love to encourage you!

I like your mission statement!
Thanks! I’m still maybe tweaking it, but I feel like it really captures a lot of what I’m about. It’s broad enough — but specific enough!

I’m the exact same way. I’m only just now learning to relax my standards so I can get something done instead of doing nothing at all.
Good luck with your goals this week!
