**We just picked more apples from my aunt’s apple trees, so I thought I would reshare this yummy and easy recipe for slow cooker applesauce without sugar.
Making applesauce is pretty simple — especially in a slow cooker! You can easily involve your child and have them help you add the ingredients and mash the applesauce when it is through. (I like a chunky applesauce, so we just use a potato masher!)
This recipe doesn’t contain any added sugar since I am trying to limit sugar in our diets. You may need to add sugar or some other type of sweetener depending on the sweetness of your apples and your taste buds!
Easy Crockpot Applesauce
Ingredients:
- 8 medium-size apples
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 T lemon juice
- 1 T pure vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- If desired, add sweetener of your choice
1) Core and dice the apples into one inch slices. I prefer to leave the peel on them.
2) Place in a slow cooker. Add the water, lemon juice, vanilla, and cinnamon. Stir to coat.
3) Cook the apples on low for four hours.
4) Use a potato masher to make chunky applesauce. Puree in a blender if you desire smooth applesauce.
Who ever invented slow cookers was a genius for many reasons. Thanks for the post.

I agree! Love my slow cooker!
My son and I made this recipe this morning. Our house smelled sooooo good and it is delicious!!
We made applesauce with a food mill last year. JDaniel was asking if we would make it again. I think we may try doing it this way this year. I am pinning it for later.
Thanks! It’s super-easy! I love using my crockpot for everything…
I do mine in the crock pot, but I don’t add anything to the apples! I find that if I use Galas, it tastes great! I also use a Foley food mill, whick takes the peels out completely, making it baby safe, too! (We freeze it in ice cube trays for babyfood & to keep on hand for baking, instead of oil.
Love the idea of freezing it in ice cube trays!
Sounds great! I would love to make this recipe with my K classroom to celebrate Johnny Appleseed’s birthday (Sept. 26th), but I just wondered how many servings this recipe makes. Thought we might need to double the recipe.
Ack! Sorry, Kristin! When we’ve made it, I would say it makes enough for 10 – 12 servings maybe?
