This seems like a weird topic–but today’s post for the 10 in 10 blog hop at iHomeschool Network is about what you’ll find in my fridge! Thesee are a few stapes I keep in the fridge constantly since beginning to follow a gluten-free (and mostly dairy-free) diet.
1) Farm Fresh Eggs
We go through these like crazy! We did have a great local source, but it looks like I’m on the hunt for a new one–since the chickens got attacked and eaten!
2) Salad
I like to keep at least one or two big tubs of salad in the fridge at all time!
3) Veggies galore
Especially now that our local farmer’s market has begun again, I have all kind of veggies–some I’m not even sure what to do with (and embarrassingly, some I didn’t even know the name of!!). I just search until I find a good recipe!
4) Fruit
Whatever is on sale is usually what we stock as far as fruit goes. I do also buy some frozen fruits–depending on the time of year.
5) Nuts
I generally keep larger bags of nuts in the freezer, but small bags from the farmer’s market go in the fridge.
This is horribly expensive, but it’s a good substitute for soy sauce. I don’t use it a lot, but every once in a while–and if I have some extra Swagbucks to get Amazon gift cards!
I love this in tea, on fruit, for ice cream, and more!
8) Mayonnaise
I’ve made several versions of homemade mayonnaise, but not all of them turned out well. Try this version of homemade mayonnaise to make your own without all the icky stuff in the store-bought kind!
9) Butter
I haven’t done this, but you can make your own raw butter with this recipe.
10 Meat defrosting in a big bowl
Since we eat many kinds of meat, there is always something defrosting in the refrigerator. Whether it’s plain meat or a freezer meal, I try to set my items in the fridge one to two days in advance!
