The bathrooms are decluttered and cleaned!!
I’m sort of running out of steam, but the book inspiring me to press on is Organized Simplicity: The Clutter-Free Approach to Intentional Living! I was really motivated by the part when Tsh Oxenreider shares four benefits of simplifying and decluttering. The one that struck me was simply the idea that with less clutter, there is “more time for people.”
Yes! I want that!
You see, I often think about inviting people over. Then, I look at my house.
And I don’t.
I don’t believe it’s how God would want me to live (see this powerful post about hospitality as a demonstration of the Gospel).
A terrible tragedy struck the small town I grew up in — a life was lost that should not have been lost. It has left me heartbroken.
It has made me reconsider how I’m doing things. If I say I value relationships, then why do I let my clutter and stuff interfere with those relationships?
I need to continue clearing out the clutter, so I spend less time managing it. I want more time to spend with those around me.
This week’s challenge area is one I’m not looking forward to at all:
The bedrooms — especially my own (and the nice walk-in closet my mom built for me — she’s quite handy)!
My bedroom door is always closed when company comes, because it is THE messiest and the catch-all.
I can’t even believe I’m showing it to you!!
(Just keepin’ it real, I guess)
Am I the only one with this problem?!!
I sure hope not! But if I am, I guess I just deal. 🙂 Off to work I go. Until next week…

I admire your honesty! I love when bloggers are real and don’t try to act like they are perfect and have it all together. Thanks! can’t wait to see the “after” pic!

Ha, ha! I hope it will be much improved!!
I figure I might as well be real — I don’t want to have to hide anything!! I have three little ones, and my days are sometimes a struggle. It’s where I’m at!! But God is faithful. And I try to cherish these moments. 🙂

I feel like sending you pics of my house and cluttered areas for advise.

Ha…ha…did you see my closet?!! 😉 I’m not sure I can give advice at this point!!
I am getting things decluttered though, and I’m learning a few things through these books! Feel free to send me pics — I just can’t guarantee I have it figured out!!

Our bedroom is the “catch-all”, too, and our door is ALWAYS closed when company comes, unless we just did a huge clean on it! Haha! You are not alone!

I know just what you mean!! 🙂
