So, here is the truth. Facebook hates me.
This is going to sound like complaining, but bear with me for a few minutes…
I’ve spent the past three years building up a Facebook page that is now pretty much worthless. When I first started out, it was fun! We would have great discussions–money saving ideas, favorite recipes, and helpful tips.
Not anymore.
Slowly, I’ve lost my steam. It just isn’t fun to try to interact and no one responds. Plus, I’ve just felt defeated, so I’ve been autoposting from the blog–and Facebook doesn’t like that.
They don’t like anything I do! They don’t want you to see things from me. They want me to pay. A lot.
(Did you know they want you to pay, too? You can now promote your own personal posts so that more of your friends can see what you say. Wow. Just wow.)
Anyway, I digress.
Some of you have asked why you can’t see my posts anymore. Money is the main reason. See the post above? 56 people out of 21,435 people saw my post!! If I want you to see my post, I have to pay. With the orphanage we’re trying to help build and the fact that I want to be a good steward of what we’ve been given, I just don’t think that’s the wisest allocation of money!
That’s why I’d like to try something new. I would like to invite those of you who are interested in seeing the deals that are posted on the blog each day into a special Motherhood on a Dime Facebook group. All of the deals and posts will be automatically posting in there, and if you are part of the group–you will actually have the opportunity to see them! In addition, I want it to be a community. A place where we can share ideas with each other. A place where we can encourage one another. A place where you can ask questions–about money, kid stuff, recipes, whatever.
I’d love to have some of you join this “inner circle” on Facebook with me! There aren’t very many there yet, but I would be honored if you would join me there!
In addition, I’m going to be focusing more on Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, and Twitter. I’d love to connect with you there!

Great idea!

🙂 Ha, ha! I’m glad you don’t think I’m too complain-y!
How are you doing? Are you planning the IRL meeting?!!
Cherie @ incherieswords says
Yes, I’ve heard a lot of complaints about this. Facebook is really screwing up what use to be good. Anyhow, I put my request to join the group! I love your site!
Stacie Nelson says
Thank you for your sweet words, Cherie! I used to really love FB…I’m not so sure anymore! Glad to have you in the group!

Is the ‘seen’ number based on whether someone actually clicks on your post? I honestly spend most of my time on Facebook scrolling through the newsfeed, and I know I don’t see every single post, but I do see a lot of your posts and appreciate what you share! =] I can understand your frustration, though, and agree that having a group page is a good idea.
Stacie Nelson says
Thanks, Elizabeth! The seen it number is just those who actually saw it in their newsfeed. I’m sad about having put so much effort into it over the past few years, but I think the group is going to be a pretty good idea! It seems a little more interactive anyway!
Becky says
I agree with you, there are better ways to spend your money! It’s sad what is happening to Facebook these days. There are ads in my newsfeed and ads on the side and I don’t think you should have to pay to have your followers see your posts! I will click through and join the group, I want to see the posts!
Stacie Nelson says
Thanks, Becky! I know some pages get a much higher reach and don’t pay for it–but mine dropped from a few thousand to a few hundred over the past few weeks, so I figure I should try something new!

As one who doesn’t use any social media by deliberate choice, I feel badly for those of you who do use them and are now getting burned. FB did a wonderful job of getting folks hooked, but I guess the line was loaded after all. I enjoy your email posts and have found many wonderful opportunities for my family because of your diligence and faithfulness to get these out each day. Thank you for your efforts and for including those of us who don’t use the social medias. Trust that you can find a way to continue reaching out and blessing others.
Stacie Nelson says
You are so sweet, Rhoda!! Thank you so much! I can definitely understand not using social media–and it may be something that I really ponder soon…
Cheri says
I understand. Facebook is making it almost impossible for us to get the feed from most of our favorite pages. I did send you a request for the group.

I gave up FB a while ago. I love getting the e-mails and checking in on your website though!
Stacie Nelson says
🙂 You are wise!! FB can be such a time drain…and I feel like so many people actually get addicted to it.
Kirsten Reeder says
Stacie, this is genius! I fear it’s only going to get worse too. Totally joining your group.
Brandy says
I really hate social media and really appreciate that you allow me to subscribe and follow along on my email. I look forward to your emails and I love your website.
Beth says
Stacie, I have been getting your posts for quite some time and appreciate your insights. I don’t do facebook, google, instagram or twitter(husbands ideas on privacy). I have followed links to pinterest and wonder how it all works. I follow you for your godly wisdom, your faith and your common sense. God bless you and your family.

GOOD FOR YOU

I am SO with you on the paying for Facebook issue! It’s beyond wrong and I have also found that switching to a “group” setting is a great solution! I will find you there 🙂 go for it! And THANK YOU for taking your time to write and share your blog with all of us! I love your posts 🙂

Facebook hates us all! I can’t even see the posts that my family members make anymore. Such a greedy company. They are being motivated by money instead of users.
I requested to join the group.
Kathy says
Greed….makes me up set….thanks for posting this…and yes would love to be part of your group. Miss seeing your post.
