A very sweet memory I have from childhood is making snow ice cream with my mom! I wanted to create this memory with my own little ones, so when the snow fell on Monday, I decided it was the perfect time to give it a try!
Ingredients
Fresh snow
Milk or cream
Sugar, Maple Syrup, or Sweetener
Vanilla
1) Scoop some snow into a bowl.
2) Drizzle with maple syrup or other sweetener (to taste). Add about 1/2 cup of milk (add more or less depending on your desired consistency) and a 1/8 tsp. of vanilla. Stir and enjoy!!
*We made this allergy-friendly by using almond milk for my oldest daughter!
(Now, I do realize there is a debate about whether or not to eat snow, but I’m of the opinion that if you collect it while it is falling or shortly thereafter, it can’t be any more harmful than processed food or the other toxins we’re exposed to on a daily basis — you can check out this article for reassurance! However, if you do live in a highly-polluted area, you may not want to try this!!)

The problem is every snow flake forms around a piece of dust or dirt or pollution in the air- I would not eat snow. Snow scrubs the air of pollution.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I will probably continue having my yearly bowl of snow ice cream though! 🙂 I’m still not convinced it’s any worse than the other toxins in my house, chemicals in foods, etc.

We do it too! I feel the same way. There are probably more toxins in foods we eat than the snow.
We use sweetened condensed milk. Yummy!!!
Good to see other options too.
As with much of our country this year, there is plenty of snow out there!

We just tried this and my girls loved it! They are always wanting to eat snow and I always say no. I’m sure it won’t hurt to have just one bowl. Well, actually they are wanting me to get more snow so they can have another bowl. The maple syrup was yummy. 🙂

Yay! I know we probably shouldn’t eat snow…but well, it’s just delicious!!

We had it for breakfast! That might be bad, right?? 😉
