Last week, I began sharing about our vacation. (You can read Part 1 here)
So, we have a decision to make.
Do we continue on our vacation as planned? Throwing up in the car isn’t really fun, but being sick at someone else’s house isn’t so great either!
After a few hours, C hasn’t thrown up anymore, so we decide to journey on to Springfield, Illinois. Our car trip is actually pretty uneventful. There isn’t any vomiting…mainly just sleeping, so we are feeling pretty fortunate. We decide that maybe C just had a 24 hour bug. She eats some soup and drinks quite a bit of water at dinner.
Round 2
In rolls Thursday morning…and the vomiting begins again. Obviously, we can’t go and do all the Lincoln sight-seeing we had planned (we studied Lincoln during school last year, so we were looking forward to taking in all the sights)!
Since we can’t really do anything, we decide to drive on to South Bend. Again, the car ride is fairly uneventful — although there is one incident. Thankfully, we have a puke bag from my last hospital stay in the car!!
On Becoming Abusive and Spammy
Back up just slightly. After C gets sick again on Thursday morning, I’m trying to do a little blogging before we leave. I post something on Facebook. I get a message I was quite unprepared for….Motherhood on a Dime has been marked as abusive and spammy. Now, this may not seem like a big deal, but for me, it’s huge! Facebook is a major part of this blog — and I’m upset. I can’t post any links, no one can share any deals. I don’t know what to do…
I’m starting to feel some stress.
(You can see more about this Facebook problem here. Unfortunately, this problem is still not resolved.)
My Great Hotel Blunder
Earlier in the week, I asked my cousin (who works for a hotel) if she could find us a room in South Bend. She found us a great room at a great price.
I already booked a room through another chain, but our friend that lives in South Bend thought it was a little scary (leave it to me to pick a sketchy hotel)! I call to cancel it, and the local hotel tells me it is cancelled and I won’t be charged.
However, I receive an email from the national website that I can’t cancel my room because I booked through an advance reservation program on their website that did not allow cancellations.
I will be charged for the room whether we use it or not.
(Lesson learned: Read the fine print carefully).
I’m beginning to feel extremely stressed.
Fortunely, this turns out okay. After two days of pleading my case to the hotel chain where I thought I had cancelled my reservation, I finally receive affirmation that they would indeed cancel the room and not charge me.
All of these things were not life-threatening and by themselves might not be too big of a deal…but they were piling up and sending me over the top.
Wasn’t this supposed to be a vacation?!!

[…] Having an emergency kit in your car is essential. You also want to have a “puke bag” of some sort (yes, I learned that on our trip). […]
