I alluded to this earlier in the year, but it looks like it is really happening. After March 19, Amazon Prime memberships will be raised from $79 to $99 per year. While the price increase will add under $2 per month, it may be worth considering trying it out or renewing now. Because I live in a small town with limited shopping (although I do try to shop local when I can), I honestly use my membership a ton. In fact, I made two orders this week!
Some of my favorite benefits of Amazon Prime:
- 2-Day Shipping (I used this just this week to get my daughter’s Lego set here in time for her birthday!)
- Unlimited streaming of 40,000 movies and TV shows with Prime Instant Video. (I watched Duck Dynasty for the first time on Prime!)
- One free book borrow each month with the Kindle Owner’s Lending Library.
- Kindle First lets you have one free book each month before it’s even released.

So if you buy now are you grandfathered in at that price or do you still pay the $99 when it’s time to renew next yr?
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like you are grandfathered in. 🙁 It looks like I’ll have to pay $99 when mine renews next year.
