Currclick’s FREE Product of the Week is a download of Pockets of Time for Little House in the Big Woods by Fortunately For You Books.  This sequential activity is a great way to access comprehension after each chapter of the book, Little House in the Big Woods.

In the book Little House in the Big Woods (not included), you read of Laura and her family’s life in the woods of Wisconsin. The many adventures include Laura and her mother having a brush with a bear, Pa playing his fiddle, and Laura and Mary seeing a town for the first time in their lives! The first book in a series of the life of Laura, readers learn of life when it required a pioneer spirit, hard work and gratitude for the simple things. Our product,POCKETS of TIME, is a sequential activity that helps a child’s comprehension of the chapter that they just read. Pockets of Time is a collection of flashcards, 4-8 for every chapter, each with a color code. The placement of these flashcards into the pocket must be in sequential order, to show that the reader understood the timeline in that chapter. Using the color method, all the teacher/parent must do to check the child’s comprehension is observe the order of color. Use with older children as an accountability for their reading, or with younger children to learn to follow a timeline of events within a book. Pockets of Time is a wonderful way to fuse together comprehension and accountability in a reading program.
