This is really a neat curriculum! I’m looking at using it with my middle daughter.
You can download The Good & the Beautiful Language Arts and Literature curriculum for free. This course currently goes through grade 3. Grade 4 will be available in the spring.
**Please note: I was unaware that this is written from a LDS perspective. It does say non-denominational, but I haven’t checked it out well enough to know if that is the case! As with anything I post, please use your discretion and judgment as I do not have time to thoroughly review all freebies I post!
The Good & the Beautiful language arts and literature curriculum is a free resource designed for home school families or for parents wanting to supplement their children’s educations. The courses foster a true love of learning while teaching strong and advanced academics. The images and artwork, the exercises and assignments, and the literature used are all designed to connect children to the good and the beautiful: family, God, high moral character, wholesome literature, and the wonders and beauty of nature and human life. This one-of-a-kind, non-denominational curriculum requires no prep time once printed and assembled. Each day, just open the book and follow the instructions, learning and exploring along with your child–there is no need to read ahead or spend hours preparing lessons.
All of the language arts & literature courses cover phonics, reading, spelling, grammar, usage, punctuation, literature, and art. Writing is included for grades 1 and above. Geography is included for grades 2 and above. Having all these subjects combined in a cross-curriculum approach connects learning, adds meaning and depth, shortens school time, and eliminates the need for 6 or 7 different courses.
Thousands of dollars and thousands of hours by Jenny Phillips, reading specialists, grammarians, and editors have gone into creating this free curriculum because of the deep need we have in our world today to train up youth who can recognize, seek out, and love truth and goodness.
