Yesterday, I received a call from my mom — she had a cooler full of meat I needed to use right away.
Ugh.
Earlier this year, we bought a 1/2 of a beef thinking it would be a good investment. We didn’t have room for all of it, so my mom was graciously keeping some of it in her freezer. Unfortunately, 1/2 of the freezer quit working (?!!), so some of the meat thawed before she realized it.
So yesterday, I had an impromptu freezer-cooking session. I grilled and baked for quite some time — but I’m very thankful we were able to save the meat, cook it, and freeze it.
Moral to this story:
Buy a freezer alarm if you have a chest freezer — ’cause it’s not so frugal to buy in bulk if your freezer quits and you don’t discover it in time!!
You’ve been warned. 🙂

I have never heard of a freezer alarm! We don’t have a deep freeze, but we’re considering getting one. My biggest fear is losing power for extended period of time during hurricane season though.

It posted before I was done typing. Ugh!
Anyway, I’m so glad you were able to salvage the meat!
Yes..it just happened to be all the best cuts, too! I am definitely getting an alarm!! I don’t have much experience with hurricanes…so I’m not sure what to tell you about that!! But if you need to know about tornadoes, I can help you!!
