Here are the basics you need to know about shopping at Walgreens:

1)  Walgreens accepts manufacturer and store coupons.  The store coupons can be found in the weekly ad or in the monthly Easy Saver coupon booklet (usually found at the front of the store).  Store coupons can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for maximum savings!

2)  Walgreens has a special Register Reward program.  Register Rewards are basically manufacturer coupons for money off on your next purchase.  Often, they will result in a free or almost-free item.  They generally do not “roll”.  This means you can’t make a purchase of an item, and then purchase the same item again and use the coupon for it.  If you do, the Register Reward will not print.  However, you could purchase some other groceries/items and use the coupon for them.  Then, if you wanted to do another transaction, you could do it and the Register Reward would print again.  It seems complicated, but check out this helpful post by Mandie from I Heart Coupon Deals about Register Rewards.

3)  You need to have as many items as you have coupons.  For example, if you have ten coupons (including store, manufacturer, and Register Rewards), you need to have ten items.  When you see coupon match-ups on blogs, some will give ideas for “filler” items.  These are inexpensive items to use to make sure you have the correct coupon-t0-item ratio.

4)  You need to hand over the coupons in a particular order:  First, hand the cashier any Register Rewards you may have.  Next, hand over manufacturer’s coupons.  Finally, end with the store coupons.  For the most part, this should help you avoid coupon issues/beeping.
