Monthly contributor post from Kristen at Celebrate Every Day with Me:
I love celebrating little things. And sometimes it is the silly, little things that create fun memories and special moments with your kids. Grab your sharpie because today, I have five silly May holidays to mark on your calendar.
1. Mother Goose Day – May 1st
This is the day to snuggle up together and read Mother Goose. It doesn’t matter if your kids are older now; remember back to when they were young and celebrate the day. Let your kids finish the nursery rhymes from memory or maybe they will delight in reading to you or a younger sibling.
2. Lost Sock Memorial Day – May 9th
Aha! Grab your sock drawers and sit down in a room (together) and go through all your socks. Which are missing its match? Bonus points if your laundry is all caught up for this day.
3. Dance Like A Chicken Day – May 14th
Crank up the music and dance like a chicken. Make it the one day you will allow your kids to listen to the Chicken Dance song over and over and over again. (Usually, I can only handle that song once or twice per day.)
4. National Chocolate Chip Day – May 15th
Good thing you danced like a chicken yesterday and burned all those calories. On May 15th, make something with chocolate chips: cookies, a trifle or just eat them as they are.
5. Sally Ride Day – May 26th
We need one educational day in the bunch, right? Today is the day to remember and celebrate the first woman who went into space. In 1983, Dr, Sally Ride flew aboard the STS-7 where she worked the robotic arm to put satellites in space. Search the internet to find out more about Sally or space, in general.
What day will your kids enjoy celebrating?
