Here are a few more "Rock Solid" ideas:
use sandpaper, pepples, and glue to create a picture.
For older preschoolers: If you have a balancing scale, discover how many small rocks equal the weight of one big rock. This would be a fun math activity to introduce the vocabulary predict, weight, equal, balance etc…
another math activity: gather some household things that your children use everyday such as a plate, spoon, sock, brush, toothbrush, book, and/or a toy. Then measure each item using rocks. Which item took the most rocks to measure? Which item took the least amount of rocks to measure? Did any of the items measure with the same amount of rocks?
I know you might have done activities similar to these before, but just in case you had not, I wanted to share them.
