If you had told me I would be interested in gardening five years ago, I would have laughed. My allergies have always made being outside miserable…and I just couldn’t see the fun in it! But now (after I load up on allergy meds!), the girls and I love to head over to my grandma’s and be in the outdoors! She has a huge garden, and she invited us to plant potatoes and onions with her last week (for St. Paddy’s Day).
We spent the morning digging in the dirt. We learned some new things and listened to stories from grandma. It was fun — and inexpensive! But the memories were priceless!
I was considering how often I make “entertaining” the girls more challenging than it needs to be. They are quite happy with a bucket of dirt and time spent with family — just enjoying the day.
Do you have a garden or let your little ones dig in the dirt?!!

By the way, I want to introduce you to my grandma! She would be mad if she knew I put up this picture…but I want to give you an idea of the lady she is! She’s almost 82 years old and plants this crazy-huge garden! She loves gardening — and has been doing it for well over 70 years!! I have this idea that I’d like to share a few of her recipes, gardening tips, and life lessons with you, but we’ll have to see how ambitious I am!
