We finally finished packing our Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes this morning! I would love to say it went smoothly, but my three-year-old was not the most agreeable. She seemed to think she needed to keep the items we had purchased for the boxes! Oh, our selfish hearts! (Guess I’ll be reviewing my Cultivating Gratitude in Preschooler series over at The Amazing Mess!)
If you’re not familiar with Operation Christmas Child, you can find out more here. I have packed shoeboxes for over ten years now. It’s such a blessing and such a great opportunity to share Christmas joy!
This year we went shopping as a family and had each girl pick out a few special things for the box she was packing. I also added some items I had picked up inexpensively during back-t0-school sales and free items we’ve accumulated (toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.) with our couponing!
We can’t wait to see where they go!

What all did you pack? I need ideas! 🙂
Hi, Jenae!
We packed markers, crayons, paper, stickers, toothbrush, toothpaste, small writing boards from Dollar General (the magnetic kind you can erase and write again), and some girly stuff like hairbrushes, barrettes, etc. That’s about it, but it filled up our boxes pretty well!
Oh…and candy!

My 3 yr old wasn’t quite grasping the concept either. We did our shopping on Friday evening and when we got home, she was trying to sneak some of the stuff off to her room!
