Well, it’s official. I completely bombed our Strong Healthy Mom 90-Day Challenge.
The first three weeks started out strong. I completed the first phase of Metabolic Prime (I LOVE this program).
And then, stomach bugs.
And food poisoning.
And my husband was kicked by a cow in the knee.
Which required physical therapy, surgery, and still more ongoing physical therapy.
And then more colds running through everyone in the house.
Which turned into bronchitis for me a few weeks ago.
And just yesterday turned into bronchitis for one more daughter.
Needless to say, I’m tired and just barely keeping up on the basics at this point!
So, I apologize. I had big plans…and articles…and ideas, but my Strong Healthy Mom challenge turned into the weak, constantly sick, tired mom challenge.
Hopefully you have grace to give me, and I’m learning to give myself grace, too.
I’m dreaming of a stronger, healthier new year….
In the meantime, I did want to (at least) give away the $50 Amazon Gift Card I promised at the beginning.
So, leave a comment below about how your past three months went (did you meet any goals?), and I’ll use random.org to choose the winner. I will close comments on 12/30 and choose a winner at 7 pm CST.
**Update: The winner is leahlynnhess@
I was doing well until November 4th, when I had a scheduled c-section. I gave birth to a healthy baby girl, but then developed internal bleeding which necessitated a second surgery, time in ICU, and 8 units of blood. Because I was in such good shape before giving birth, I healed fairly quickly, but have struggled with milk production. My baby girl has been slow to gain weight, and I have spent my days nursing, pumping, and supplementing with formula. Between stress-eating and not having time to fix healthy meals, I have gained weight since giving birth! I am VERY ready to get back to exercising and eating right!
Oh, wow, Beth! I am so glad you and your baby are okay. That sounds very stressful. Praying for your continued recovery and for that little sweet girl to gain weight.
I failed quite miserably as well. I did actually order the Metabolic Prime DVD on your recommendation. Please don’t ask me if I liked it. Because I wouldn’t know as it’s never been opened. <>
What I did do was gain ten pounds and completely fall off my routines over the past three months. Not the dream I’d envisioned. So today I started meal planning again. Tomorrow I’m going to start walking again.
Babysteps and grace. But especially grace. 🙂
I understand your frustration. I’ve been moping today because I feel so out of shape…but we can do this! Tomorrow is a new day! ?
I am sorry to hear of your family struggles 🙁 we too have struggled with sickness… one of my three right after another as well with various infections. I have not done much exercising the last three months at all and obviously holiday eating is a lot! My family and I did go on a hike today so I am ready to get back at it and ready to cook more meals at home! Thanks for the encouragement!
I’ve not lost weight, but I haven’t gained any either… I’ve added butter oil to my diet for my teeth (I had one fall out because it was basically devoid of any minerals) and am making bone broth for me and trying to get hubby and kids to like it.
Goal for first quarter of 2017 is to lose 20 pounds by going off sugar. I’m confident that change alone will work wonders. But need to get through the awful headaches of days 2, 3 and 4…which I never have done before.
I did pretty good, for me. I finished the C25K and made up to the third phase/third week of prime. I’ve struggled since thanksgiving, but hope to pick back up next week.
So…I bought it but then never started it! I’d love to start it in the new year! The program and research behind it sound amazing!
I did great before thanksgiving….totally fell off the wagon from then till Christmas. I jumped back on the wagon Monday and I’ve essentially gotten back to the same weight I was @ thanksgiving. Now to get down to where my cardiologist would like for me to be.
I did great for about a week, and then lost the rhythm. Hoping to make a new start tomorrow as my dr recommended it.
Oops! I messed the challenge up, too, because I was thinking it was a 30 day challenge! During those first 30 days, I drank much more water than usual and tried to walk somewhere everyday, and get in the sunshine for a while. Since then, I’ve let myself stop, though… 🙁 maybe we can all try again?
I did not do well as well! Family drama means I got rundown and sick which in turn the kids got sick and more sick and more sick. I’m still not able to exercise per dr orders until my lungs clear up. Downward spiral I hope to turn around in 2017!
Not so great but gearing up to make this year be my healthiest yet!
I also started off on a good foot….have lost about 7 lbs. from the start. I purchased the metabolic prime program, but must admit that I have not started it due to my limited time around the holidays. I also began to loose steam, but kept conscious about healthier food choices & more movement, despite several colds, flu bugs, etc in our family too. I will start the metabolic prime program in the new year & hopefully keep trecking through. Thank you for this group & inspiration.
Looking forward to trying again in 2017.
