There are two main types of coupons:
1) Manufacturer’s Coupons: You guessed it — these come from the manufacturer of the product! They are accepted at most stores. There are two types of manufacturer’s coupons: paper coupons and E-coupons.
2) Store Coupons: These are only valid at the store where they are issued.
Many stores will allow you to “stack” a manufacturer’s coupon and a store coupon (Target and Walgreens, for example). You can often find great bargains this way!
Also, some stores do not have store coupons, but they will double manufacturer’s coupons up to a certain amount. For example: At my Dillons, manufacturer’s coupons double up to $1. So, if you have a coupon for 50 cents, the store will match it and “double” it with another 50 cents. If your coupon was 70 cents, the store would only match 30 cents (total equals $1).

Hi, Katrina! Wow! I’m sure you do have a big grocery bill with three teenage boys! If you’re looking to get started with coupons, head to this post for some help – https://www.motherhoodonadime.com/category/begin-here/
Also, feel free to send me an email if you have any questions. I truly believe you can cut your bill using coupons, menu-planning, and stockpiling. Because you do have hungry boys, it may not be quite as much, but you can still see some savings!

Hello,
I am the mother of 3 beautiful girls, 14, 9 and 6 and they are eating me out of house and home..lol. I am new to this whole couponing thing and I am trying to create my stockpile. Two questions, first how many of each item do you have in your stockpile before you stop stockpiling that item. Also, when there is a great item on sale where are you getting a lot of the same coupon?
Thanks, Julie

Hi, Julie! Sorry it’s taken me a few days to get back to you…I’m trying to catch up after being gone last weekend!
My stockpile goal is 3-6 months worth of an item, so it will be different for each item and different for each family depending on what you use!
So far for coupons, I’ve gotten them through our regional Sunday paper and local Saturday paper. I also get coupons from two friends that don’t use theirs! That has been a good amount for me — but I am not an “extreme couponer” either!!
If you don’t mind, I would like to use your question and answer it more fully in a post! Let me know if that is okay with you!! 🙂

I used coupons often when I lived in Cali but I don’t use them anymore. SEems like it takes so much time! But I admire people that can coupon, it’s really a skill.

It definitely does take a little time! I don’t use them quite as much as I used to since we changed to a gluten-free diet, but I still find some to use!
