I’ve been sharing and coming up with kids activities for several years now, so I will be the first to admit, I am not easily impressed by most kids activity books. However, I do have to say that after receiving and looking through this new book 101 Kids Activities That Are the Bestest, Funnest Ever!: The Entertainment Solution for Parents, Relatives & Babysitters! by Holly Homer and Rachelle Miller of KidsActivitiesBlog.com, I am impressed!! Not only does it include many ideas I think are “classic” (like my craft stick puzzles), it also has some new activities I haven’t tried before! This book really is perfect to give as a gift or to keep for a quick reference when you need an activity to do with the kids.
I thought it would be fun to pick an idea and share how it turned out, so the girls and I picked out an activity called Watch It Fall. When I saw it, I was reminded of the game Kerplunk that my girls got for Christmas. It was pretty easy to set up, and it was just as fun as the original Kerplunk game (and quite a bit cheaper)!
DIY Kerplunk Game for Kids
Supplies:
- Wooden Skewers
- Pom Poms
- Strainer
1) Fill the bottom of the strainer with pom poms. We filled ours about 2/3 of the way.
2) Poke wooden skewers through the holes and across the strainer. Continue with about 12 – 15 skewers (until no pom poms fall out when you turn over the bowl).
To play: Turn the strainer upside down and place it on two books. Take turns pulling out the skewers. Keep the pom poms that fall out when you pull out the skewer. The person with the least amount of pom poms at the end of the game is the winner!
I’m adding this idea to our 101 Days of Summer Fun for Kids!
