Special post from Mandie:
Stacie and I are moms to a total of six awesome kids! Stacie has three adorable girls and I have three studly boys. Being a mom is hard work! In fact, it’s the hardest job I’ve ever done, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
There is a time and place for saying “no” to your kids. Today though, I’d like to invite you to join me in saying “yes”–even to just one thing that you normally wouldn’t. Whether it’s playing in the rain or having a picnic or chocolate chips in pancakes or messy craft time or hide and seek when it’s bed time. Saying “yes” to your child’s request makes them feel confident and that their ideas are worthy.
The laundry pile will be there…put those clothes down and say “yes” to jumping on the bed!
The dishes aren’t going anywhere…put the sippy cups down and and say “yes” to a dance party! (We love Seeds Family Worship!)
I know from experience that when I spend more time with my children, I see less behavior issues and more respect. I always feel like a better mom when I’ve devoted time to playing–even just a few minutes. I fight the urge to sneak in learning sometimes…keep it light-hearted and fun!
Spending time with your kids fills up their “meter” and meets their needs. It makes them feel special and creates moments that are etched into memories. Find the time to delight in your children!
What did you say “yes” to today?
