Stick Figuring Through the Bible: Grapevine Studies Review

A few years ago, I noticed a really interesting company booth at our local homeschool conference.  I stopped and talked for a while, but I decided the girls were not quite ready.

Two years later, I found out more about this same company, and I knew I wanted to give their products a try….

Stick Figuring through the Bible:  Grapevine Studies Review

Grapevine Studies is a unique Bible curriculum.  Kids (and parents) can “stick figure” their way through the Bible.  They offer studies in the Old Testament, New Testament, Catechism, Timelines, and much more.

The girls and I recently had the opportunity to try out the lessons on Esther from Grapevine Studies.  We’re currently about 3/4 of the way through and loving it.  Usually we read through the suggested Scriptures, I show the drawing for that section, and the girls draw away!   There is just something about drawing that helps a few of my learners retain more.  It’s been fun to see how much they’ve learned and remember.   There are different levels available for various age groups as well as multi-level books (like what we’re using).

While they recommend the program for ages 5 to adult, I have been using it with my four-year-old.  It works fine for her, because it doesn’t really bother her that she can’t draw quite what the picture shows.  If your child is a perfectionist or gets upset when something isn’t right (like one of my other daughters), you might want to wait until they are at least five to begin.

If you have older children, the studies also incorporate review questions, vocabulary study, and memory work.

The truth is that I actually loved this concept and curriculum so much, I purchased the Old Testament Basics (Catechism) to use during this school year as we study Creation to the Greeks!  (Just a hint:  CurrClick is currently offering the titles on sale through August 24.)
