We’re just a couple of days into the Olympics and my kids have been enjoying the skating and skiing so far, imitating the athletes and getting excited about each victory!
Just before the opening ceremony, we made these Olympic Flags, which I found the inspiration for at I Can Teach My Child but made some alterations based on what we had in the house for crafting. Enjoy making these with your kids so they can wave their flags as they watch their favorite Olympic events!
Olympic Flag Craft
What You Need:
- Tempera paint in red, yellow, black, green and blue
- Jumbo popsicle sticks
- Cardstock
- Toilet paper tubes
- Paper plate
What to Do:
Fold your piece of cardstock in half and then cut the folded paper in half, so it will look like this:
Squeeze some blobs of paint on to a paper plate. Gently dip the circular end of the toilet paper rolls into each color and create the Olympic circles on one side of your flag.
Allow to dry, then tape or glue the cardstock shut and attach a jumbo popsicle stick inside the cardstock as the “pole” to complete your flag. Our kids’ flags are not perfect, but they did it themselves and that is what’s important!
Wave it around and cheer on the USA! (Or Canada, or wherever you are!)
