*Update: As I make it through my list, I’ll check off the books I’ve finished and share a *very short* thought on them.
One of my yearly goals was to read 12 non-fiction and five fiction books this year, but I just realized I never posted them!! Here they are in no particular order:
[easyazon-link asin=”0784721106″]From Clutter to Clarity: Simplifying Life from the Inside Out[/easyazon-link]:
Always one of my favorites to reread! It makes me remember why I started my whole clear-the-clutter challenges in the first place!
[easyazon-link asin=”1932012958″]Educating the WholeHearted Child — Third Edition[/easyazon-link]
I’ve always read the previous editions of this each year before starting our homeschool year. It just gets me excited about what’s to come and focuses on what’s important. The new edition is updated and includes many new resources, so I’m probably going to reread it again before school starts!
3) [easyazon-link asin=”1600662269″]The Radical Cross: Living the Passion of Christ[/easyazon-link] by A.W. Tozer
[easyazon-link asin=”0060506083″]The Complete C.S. Lewis Signature Classics[/easyazon-link]
Technically I only finished two of the books in this volume, but I was too overwhelmed to finish all of it! It’s a huge book!
[easyazon-link asin=”0805464298″]What Women Fear: Walking in Faith that Transforms[/easyazon-link] by Angie Smith
I don’t consider myself a fearful person, but I did find myself in a few of these fears. Angie’s style of writing connects with me, and I enjoyed the book.
[easyazon-link asin=”0800719603″]A Confident Heart: How to Stop Doubting Yourself and Live in the Security of God’s Promises[/easyazon-link] by Renee Swope
I thought this book was okay. I guess it felt like a lot of other books I’ve read, but she did have some helpful thoughts.
[easyazon-link asin=”159555078X”]The Total Money Makeover: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness[/easyazon-link] by Dave Ramsey Ramsey’s books are always no-nonsense and very practical. I can’t say I learned anything new, but I was reminded again how much I want to get our house paid off quickly!
[easyazon-link asin=”1600651070″]The Well-Adjusted Child: The Social Benefits of Homeschooling[/easyazon-link] by Rachel Gathercole
Every once in a while, someone will make a comment that makes me doubt what we’ve felt called to do as far as schooling. This is another book I’ve read through in the past, and rereading it was such a good choice at this point in my life! I highly recommend it if you wonder about the “social” aspect of homeschooling. You’ll be encouraged.
[easyazon-link asin=”1576754227″]Eat That Frog!: 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time[/easyazon-link] by Brian Tracy
I’ve read a few books on time management, and this is probably one of the better ones. (Not to say I’m an expert by any stretch of the imagination!!)
[easyazon-link asin=”1600063004″]A Praying Life: Connecting with God in a Distracting World[/easyazon-link]
One of my favorite reads so far, I love his idea of prayer cards and viewing our lives as a story.
11) [easyazon-link asin=”0307408841″]In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler’s Berlin[/easyazon-link]
[easyazon-link asin=”1584282436″]Digital Photography Boot Camp[/easyazon-link] I’ve had this book for a while, but I need to force myself to read it and figure out how to take better photos with my digital camera!!
This is more a book to scan rather than read completely, but I did get quite a few tips. Some days I think I’m seeing some improvement in my photos.
[easyazon-link asin=”1439102813″]Still Alice[/easyazon-link]
I sobbed my way through this one. I haven’t experienced Alzheimer’s, so this was quite an eye-opening book for me.
[easyazon-link asin=”0385343493″]The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie: A Flavia de Luce Mystery[/easyazon-link]
For whatever reason, I didn’t really think this book was so great. I couldn’t connect with the main character, and I found it rather slow.
[easyazon-link asin=”0399157913″]The Help Deluxe Edition[/easyazon-link] It definitely kept my attention and really made me think. I’m very interested to see the movie…and how it differs from the book.
4) [easyazon-link asin=”0553212168″]The Brothers Karamazov[/easyazon-link]
[easyazon-link asin=”0375863389″]The Princess and the Goblin[/easyazon-link]
A few I’ve added and finished as the year has progressed:
- Overcoming Adrenal Fatigue: How to Restore Hormonal Balance and Feel Renewed, Energized, and Stress Free (New Harbinger Self-Help Workbook)
- Adrenal Fatigue: The 21st Century Stress Syndrome
- The Perfect 10 Diet: 10 Key Hormones That Hold the Secret to Losing Weight and Feeling Great-Fast!
- You’re Already Amazing: Embracing Who You Are, Becoming All God Created You to Be
What are some of your favorite reads?
