Welcome to the Strong Healthy Mom Challenge update! Wondering what this is? Check out this post to join us. Then read on to find out how to enter to win this week’s giveaway and join us for a little accountability! P.S. I missed hearing from most of you last week–I know it’s so busy this week, but I hope you’ll take a second and leave your progress in the comments!
Sorry for the late update this week! Yesterday I was down with a fever and sore throat, but thankfully I woke up feeling much better this morning. I’ve been working on revamping and starting up my Faithfully Nourished website again. If you are interested in health & wellness, simple living, faith, and homemaking, I’d love to have you join me there. Today, I finished up a pretty personal story about finding food freedom over the past year, but I know that I am not the only one on that journey! You can read it here.
Let’s get back to the goals!
Here were my goals for Week 5:
1) Continue forcing myself to go to bed by 10:30 PM! I made a little progress–four out of seven days.
2) Continue with the Eight-Week Fat Loss Plan for Busy People from FitnessBlender.com. Complete!! Still love this so much!
3) Eat mindfully and slowly. Only one meal this week where I felt that I didn’t “honor my hunger” and listen to my body, so that’s big progress!
Guess what? Same goals for Week 6. I know with Christmas and traveling, it’s going to be a little more difficult, but I really want to turn these into habits!
1) Continue forcing myself to go to bed by 10:30 PM!
2) Continue with the Eight-Week Fat Loss Plan for Busy People from FitnessBlender.com.
3) Eat mindfully and slowly.
If you’ve missed the past few weeks, here is a recap of what the challenge is all about:
Strong Healthy Mom Challenge: Holiday Edition
From now through January 11, I will be posting weekly goals and sharing updates on how it is going. Even better, I want to invite you to share your goals and progress…and be eligible to win. Here’s how it works: 1) If you haven’t yet, leave a comment on the first week’s post with your long-term goals for the next eight weeks. (This post will be open for comments throughout the challenge.) 2) Leave a comment on this post about how your week went. Then, share your goals for the next week. That’s it! Each week, we’ll just share and be accountable to each other. To keep it fun and mix things up, I’ll be throwing in a giveaway each week. There will be things like Amazon Gift Cards, Jillian Michael’s DVDs, Fitness Blender programs, Trim Healthy Mama books, and Starbucks gift cards. These winners will be randomly chosen from the comment section on each week’s post, and I will share those winners each week. Each weekly post will be open for comments until the following Sunday at 8 PM CT. Our “big” giveaway will be at the end of the eight weeks. Those who have commented and joined in with us for at least four of the eight weeks will be eligible for that giveaway. The winner will be able to choose what they want from these three options: $100 Gift Card to Amazon, $100 Gift Card to Trim Healthy Mama store, or a $100 gift card to Target. The final winner will be chosen on January 12, 2015! I will be posting on Instagram (you can find me here) under the hashtag #stronghealthymomchallenge. If you are on Instagram or Twitter, there will be a special giveaway at the end for those who use the hashtag, so use it so we can find you!
You can also join our Facebook group – Strong Healthy Mom Challenge! Unfortunately Facebook has banned me from posting, liking, or commenting for 30 days (I’m not sure why except that I had tons of posts go into my Motherhood on a Dime group on Black Friday), so I won’t be posting in there for a while, but you are welcome to throw out questions and suggestions to people in there. I can see everything…I just can’t respond!
Last week’s winner of the $10 Amazon or Starbucks gift card is: [email protected] This week, you can choose from your choice of Jillian Michael’s DVDs or a $5 Amazon Gift Card! There are just three weeks to go, so be sure you comment on at least four posts to be eligible for the $100 gift card!
Plus, I just want to know how it’s going! I’ve been praying for…and thinking about all of you!
It’s been a couple week since I’ve commented so I can’t even remember my goals. With Kelton’s surprise appendectomy, I’m sure I haven’t done too well meeting them anyway!
My goals for this week (and probably next week)
1) Get more running in. I feel better and have more energy when I do. At least 10 miles a week.
2) Eat more mindfully. I don’t have to have a Christmas cookie just because it’s there.
3) One of my original goals was in bed by 11 and asleep by 11:30. Not sure I’ve met that once, but I’m going to keep trying!
Aww! You’ve had some rough weeks. Grace! These are great goals! I want to run a little, too, because I’ve been needing some sunshine. Tired of gray days!
I didn’t have the best eating day yesterday…stress really is not our friend. Pray I can do better today. thx
We are traveling this week, so the bedtime goal won’t happen and I have definitely splurged some, calorie wise, but I don’t have a guilty, yucky feeling so far and thankfully I have been able to keep up my exercise routine. Again, I think maintenance is my goal right now. I am beginning to see the benefit of the continued exercise, feel much stronger and my back is in good shape so far. That is a great improvement and a blessing!
Doing pretty well, but caught a cold again, along with my son and husband. Second time this fall/winter.I’ve been drinking a lot of fluids. Doing pretty well with the relaxing considering it’s a busy time of year. Not doing so well with my walking. So I just want to keep working at it-especially the get moving part!
Two days ago I developed a cold sore under my tongue…I’m not eating much right now. Too painful! So I’ve been doing really well getting in enough water, and I’m making sure to brush after every meal, thus cutting down on in between meal snacking.
Kids are sick so I’ve been good about going to bed early so that I’m well rested if they wake up. They do, but I’m ready to get up at 5 am almost every morning!
I’ve done well with my JM workouts and will continue with the kettle bell one until the new year.
Have been exercising a bit, but not doing great on the eating choices. The Christmas cookies just look better than the banana. LOL
This coming week:
Exercise 4 days.
Make 10 healthier eating choices.
I have been drinking my water and started back to my workout routine- day 4 of the 8 week busy people plan from fitness blender.
Goals for the week – complete the prescribed workouts for busy people
Drink water –
Lose 1 lb
I recently purchased the movie War Room and love it! I am going to make my closet my own war room. When something bad happens… Death sickness and often times of sadness I say “You are in my many prayers.” I don’t always keep my words. I plan to write down in a journal all the requests for prayers and my own battle of prayers!
Thanks for this blog! Love it!
That’s an awesome idea! I love the idea of transforming your closet. Keeping a journal has been so helpful for me. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
